Insanely Responsive

After working with Laura, my house is now a place that I love to be in and enjoy sharing with others. When a guest comes over, instead of being embarrassed or insecure, I am proud of the way my home looks.  I am constantly getting compliments on my house, which now looks finished with decorator touches that Laura added to match our style and preferences.  From the unique lighting fixtures in the kitchen to the custom tile fireplace and mantle in our music room, everything works together to create a cohesive look and more importantly, brings a smile to my face every time I notice it.

I have worked with several decorators and Laura is by far the best. Unlike other decorators I’ve worked with she is insanely responsive, always available by phone or email with thoughtful and complete responses.

On Time and Within our Budget

We recently relocation from northern California and purchased a house in North Raleigh. Our near term goal was to open up the area between the kitchen and living room while upgrading the rooms and foyer. A number of local contractors gave us proposals, but lacked the background in interior design. What we really needed was to work with a team of professionals who could lay out a path of upgrades and that we could make over time – and within our budget.

Our (fussy) realtor came to the rescue. Her husband, a developer of high-end properties had used Laura for years. She came up with a series of design recommendations and alternatives. She then developed and priced construction plans and schedules, along with ways for us to save money in the process.
The construction project went without a hitch – on time and within our projected budget. Any questions were answered promptly, and necessary changes were fully explained and documented. Laura worked with us on colors, fabrics, furniture, lighting and other accessories.

We look forward to working with Laura in the future and highly recommend her for anyone seeking an expert interior designer.

Laura is the ultimate professional! Her attention to detail and total commitment to the project is exceptional. It is obvious from the workman she hired that Laura demands perfection and they are determined to oblige.

Laura has an impressive knowledge of electric and plumbing issues – what will and will not pass a home inspection and she is upfront and honest about what costs will be and what problems may arise particularly when updating an older home.

If there is a problem or an issue with a part of the project; be it a bent light fixture or the wrong color paint, she responds to emails and phone calls immediately and is at your home to access the problem and contact the appropriate contractor.

Laura is sensitive to your budget and will work hard to create a new, updated look within that budget. She has oodles of ideas and many contacts, allowing her to help you create the room you envision.

The Finished Product is Fantastic!

I LOVE my new family room. I was admittedly nervous about using an interior decorator to help me re-do my family room. I wanted the finished product to look like my style, not the style of the decorator. I already had some idea of what I wanted to do, but was lost in the number of choices, fitting all the pieces together, and the amount of time it takes to run to a zillion stores looking and looking. From the get go, Laura did not try to influence my decisions. She easily guided me through the process, narrowing the choices to what would work, and best of all she did all the leg work. She quickly recognized my priorities; budget, comfort and resiliency to two young boys. The finished product is fantastic. A true reflection of my personal tastes. Thank you Laura!

I have one piece of advice….hire her.

For 3 years I walked in and out of stores…from chains to franchises to locally owned high end stores and actually approached an artisan…asking for help in creating a little dream I had…a mommy’s lair (read “oversized master bedroom morphs into a multifunctional reading, media and sleeping room”)…I walked in with swatches and folders of things and styles I liked. I walked through stores saying I like this, I like that.

The response was lackluster at best. Out of all the searching I did and the people I met, only one, perhaps sensing a nice commission in the offing, offered to come to my home. And then she presented me with a sketch and pieces that SHE liked. Than came Laura. She listened. She reviewed. She came out. She measured. She called. She asked details. She dutifully looked at all the swipes I had collected and dreamed with me. She noticed what was already in my house. She heard me say I have 3 small kids. And then she presented me with 2 plans and together we selected the pieces and the fabrics.

I bought a truckload or so of furnishings and home accessories from Laura because she actually cared what my room looked like and she wanted it to be mine. She never once complained when she had to redo things, check on one more thing, handle an ornery vendor who shipped late, even come over and help me shuffle things from our plan. She gave me the benefit of her knowledge while somehow channeling herself into my dream of the room that would become my sanctuary inside my home.

Not only that, and this is the best part, Laura is just a fun, interesting person of integrity. We shared many laughs and enjoyed each other’s company as we worked on this project together. I have one piece of advice….hire her.
